What a way to go...

I sure hope they found this guy's legs.

I'd sure hate to suck something like that up in my jet pump over 4th of July weekend...

The Last Hurrah

We saw Revenge of the Sith last night. It definitely ties the first two episodes to the original trilogy the way it should. I think all the "fans" who were disappointed with episodes I and II will be satisfied.

Personally, I love them all. I recognize that Lucas had a story to tell, and that's what episodes I and II were all about.

Then again, I think I'm the only person on the planet who didn't hate Jar Jar Binks.

Overall, episode III was sad for a number of reasons. Even knowing that Anakin will become Darth Vader, watching it progress was somewhat depressing.

Still, a very solid conclusion to the saga. Good story, lots of action, no questions left unanswered.

I think I'll go watch episode IV now...

Revenge!

Ha... the Riverview project passed. I made sure to go out and vote on my way to the doctor's office Tuesday, even though I wasn't feeling well, because I wanted to make sure this measure passed.

I voted in favor of the project for selfish reasons--to get back at the bastards who voted down the Cardinals' stadium being built in the exact same location. They were fighting this, too.

Now, because of them, I have to drive clear over to the other side of town to see a football game starting next season. I could have had it virtually in my own backyard...

If these people think 10 football games a year would have brought undesirable traffic into their neighborhood, just wait until they see what holiday shopping season does for them.

I'll be sure to honk and wish them all a Merry Christmas...

Time to hang up your boogie shoes

Damn you, James...

Its all your fault. I'm hooked on Google Maps.

I guess I'm not the only one.

Its still in beta and I've found some flaws (last time I checked, Canyon Lake was not located northeast of Alma School and University). But heck, that's half the fun!

I find myself looking up maps and satellite photos of houses I've lived in before, my old high school... its crazy.

Check it out. Then you'll be hooked, too.

Whiners

People in this office never cease to amaze me...

You give someone who uses nothing more than Microsoft Office and Lotus Notes a 1GHz Pentium III with 512MB RAM and they complain about how slow the machine is. Mind you, some of them are on a fresh install of Windows, so we're not talking about spyware issues at all.

Funny. I've been using the same 1GHz Pentium III laptop with 512MB RAM at my office for close to four years now. I use Dreamweaver, Photoshop Elements (sometimes both at the same time) and various other applications, usually without a hiccup. Is it lightning fast? Of course not, but its plenty fast enough to get my job done. Its not like I sit around for minutes waiting for files to open.

Perception is a funny thing. These whiny people who don't understand that the new workstations have to go to the people who run high-end software irritate the crap out of me. I don't like the fact that our company depreciates computer equipment over five years either. In my opinion, its overstating the value of a devalued piece of equipment--but I live with it.

Take a valium and chill. It won't kill you to wait half a second while you toggle between your e-mail and your web browser.

It really IS crazy out there

Camping out to get a lot for a new home? Sounds crazy, but its true.

Xan and I got a first hand look at the new home craziness this past weekend. There really is NOTHING available in terms of decent sized 3-4 bedroom homes with a 3-car garage (one of our requirements), unless you want to drive from Queen Creek every day. Even out there, you'll pay over $300,000 for it.

I'm willing to go a reasonable distance south or a reasonable distance east--but certainly not to a place where you have to drive for 40 minutes just to get to the freeway.

I don't know where all these people are coming from. In a couple of years when all these homes are built and filled up, I shudder to think of what our traffic will be like.
