As an avid rider of watercraft, I can honestly say that I've never been on the water when a storm was threatening. However, if I was on vacation at Lake Powell, I can't honestly say I'd let a little rain get in the way of my fun, either. More than likely, the guy would have been sleeping on a house boat anyway and I don't suspect it would have been much safer to be there than on a jet ski.
Mental note for future reference: plan any potential houseboat trips on Lake Powell around the usual Arizona monsoon season.
