Trixie had her surgery last Thursday. As you can see, she wasn't very happy about it.
She had a really rough night after the anesthesia wore off (at precisely 12:18am). At that point she jumped off the bed and ran to the door wimpering. I got up and let her out, where she proceeded to pace around the yard looking very disoriented. She finally came back in the house but wouldn't lay down for more than a few minutes at a time. For the next four hours, she continued to pace around the house, wimpering and running to the door (which I quickly figured out had nothing to do with actually NEEDING to go outside). I finally got smart and gave her a benadryl at about 4:00am, which quickly knocked her back out enough to lay down and sleep.
That is, until Titus woke up at 6:15am wanting his breakfast.
By noon on Friday, she was past the obvious discomfort and was able to rest. On the other hand, not being a good "napper", I went about the rest of the day feeling like I'd been run over by a truck.
As of yesterday afternoon, Trixie was pretty much back to her old self again. She is getting very bored with being in the house so much and can't understand why we won't let her play with Titus.
Titus, by the way, is probably getting the short end of the stick in this whole ordeal. He was very excited to see Trixie when we brought her home from the vet, but she wanted nothing to do with him. Every time he would come close to her, she would give him "stink eye" (as Xan likes to say) and snarl at him. Its also very difficult for me not to give Trixie special attention when she has two large incisions and looks absolutely pathetic ("Of course she can sleep on the bed tonight, just look at her!").
Okay, she plays the sympathy card really well.
