I feel really bad for the Red Sox fans. These poor people have been through emotional hell for the past two games, watching their team hang on by a thread for 12 innings, 14 innings...
Sure, they've come out victorious, but let's be realistic here--nobody in the history of baseball has ever come back and won four straight after losing the first three games in the playoffs. And to do it in Yankee Stadium? It just isn't going to happen.
Don't get me wrong--I hate the Yankees. I'd love nothing more than for the Red Sox to prove me wrong and keep the Yankees out of the World Series. If nothing else, I'm grateful that their bullpen is being beaten down by these incredibly long battles. If they had swept the Red Sox, they'd have had plenty of rest to get ready, as the Astros and Cardinals series will probably go to seven games.
With any luck, the Red Sox will take another victory tonight, although that would just be pure torture for their fans.
The poor folks in Boston probably haven't slept much this week...
