Boycott the Boss

This is all well and good, but does anyone still buy Bruce Springsteen's records anyway?

In fact, I've never bought an album from any of the artists participating in the Vote for Change tour. And now, even if I were inclined to buy one, I definitely won't.

I'm so sick of celebrities using their fame to push their political beliefs on others. I wish more Americans would do their own research and make up their own minds. Why would you let some prima donna pop singer tell you what to believe in? They certainly aren't any smarter than the average American.

Bruce Springsteen got bad grades in high school and admits to only having one job other than singing:

"I did work as a gardener once, but that didn't last too long, even though I guess it was the only real job I ever had."

And I should let you tell me how to vote because ... ? And you are a good representative of the middle class because ... ?

Come on, people! Our country is becoming so devoid of common sense, its downright frightening.

I think programs like MTV's Rock the Vote are great. They encourage people to take a stand and vote for what THEY believe in, without telling them WHO they should believe in.

Encourage Independent Thinking!

Ah, MTV, now that's what I call quality programming. That's what I want to rest my hope for the futre on. What insight you have. By the way, its WHOM, not WHO. Maybe you've watched a little too much MTV.

Anyone who puts down a guy for having "bad grades" and having only "one job" and then states "Encourage Independent Thinking" is certainly not practicing what he or she is preaching.

What makes someone with "one job" and "bad grades" any less qualified to use his profession to take a stand about something he or she passionately cares about? Intelligence and "being smart" has NOTHING to do with someone's profession or grades in school. I'm a college graduate on the verge of finishing up grad school and I can assure you that Springsteen is much, much smarter than I am. An "Independent Thinker" would realize this.

If you're upset because Springsteen is telling you how to vote, you should then only be upset with yourself. When did he tell you how to vote? It's your own fault for letting him tell you how to vote. If you were truly thinking independently, you would realize the only person who could tell you how to vote is you.

You don't have to agree with the man's politics, but putting down the man's professional resume and "bad grades" is kind of "prima donna-ish" on your part, isn't it?
