I just heard some news that made me cry. Pat Tillman, the Arizona Cardinal who gave up his lucrative NFL career to serve our country along with his brother in the Army Rangers has been killed in Iraq.
Being a long time Arizona resident and Cardinal ticket holder, I feel like I knew the guy. I've seen him around town and he always seemed like a normal person, not a high paid athelete. He was unpretentious and genuinely likeable.
And amazingly brave.
God bless you and your brother, Pat. I'm so sad to lose you.

An update...
Now they're saying he was killed in Afghanistan, not Iraq. And perhaps his brother was not killed. I hope for the sake of his family that at least his brother made it.
In any event, it was in combat. He died doing what he believed in.
