I don't remember the last time something that hadn't even yet been released caused such a stir. Google's impending Gmail has done just that.
From what I've read, I don't know if I'd use Gmail for all of my important e-mail needs, but how can you beat 1 gigabye of mail storage for free? I couldn't care less if they scanned the majority of the frivolous e-mails I get. It seems pretty simple--if you don't like the terms of their privacy agreement, don't sign up for it.
In fact, I wonder how many people have even read the privacy agreements for other free-mail services available. I suspect Google isn't the only provider to scan messages in some fashion--IF, in fact, they really ARE going to do so.
It hasn't been released yet, people! Let's wait and see what the final product is before you get your panties in such a bunch...
